Add rule groups

Open Segments and choose New segment. Add a group of rules and choose whether all or any must match. Add a second group inside the first to combine conditions.

Choose filters

Filters come in families: profile, behaviour, transactions, engagement, device, subscription, audience, time, advanced and real-time. Pick a field and a value; values are suggested from your data.

Check the count and save

The count and sample members update as you edit. When the audience looks right, save the segment and use it in a journey or a campaign.

A segment used by a live journey or campaign cannot be deleted until it is released. The segment page lists where it is used.

Frequently asked questions

Do segments update by themselves?

Yes. Membership changes as people match or stop matching the rules.

Why can’t I delete a segment?

Because a journey or campaign uses it. Open the segment page to see where, release it, then delete.

What is the difference between a segment and a list?

A segment updates itself from rules. A list is fixed and managed by you.
